pqA | pedro quero Arquitectos is an award winning architecture practice based in Asturias (Northern Spain) and in the UK. We are an ARB (Architects Registration Board) registered practice for the UK and the Commonwealth. Since 1.999, we have been creating tailored designs both for private and public clients, from the initial concept design to the final construction to completion, embracing a wide range of sectors: Cultural, Residential, Commercial, Educational, Institutional, Master Planning…
Our work has been featured in several international publications, exhibited worldwide and recognized for a thoughtful and innovative approach to contemporary architecture.
We pursue simplicity through every work by searching the essential performance of those ideas that steer every project. Achieving a lack of adornment by ignoring no-relevant elements, is our main appeal. We look for what we understand as the core, underpinning beauty: concepts as timelessness, abstraction... -all beyond occasional fashion - and fully believe that all these lie in reaching the essence of an idea, trying to solve all targets with minimum efforts. Every work turns, therefore, into an exercise to curtail expressive means. We are fascinated by formal containment, which, however, is able enough of provoking spatial wealth and complexity, performing the final aim of our architecture.
Pedro (Oviedo, 1974) is also studio design tutor at the School of Architecture and Landscape ESALA University of Edinburgh and has been invited as guest critic to several Universities in the UK and overseas. He has previously taught at the School of Architecture Universidad Europea in Madrid. He combines his professional activity leading pqA with teaching and a continuous research in architecture.
